Memphis Grizzlies head coach J.B. Bickerstaff had a strong response to the team deciding to trade Marc Gasol to the Toronto Raptors.

While speculation had centered around Marc Gasol possibly being dealt to the Charlotte Hornets, it was the Raptors that swooped in and landed the Grizzlies veteran in hopes of taking another step forward in the Eastern Conference.

Of course, Gasol's move is certainly tough for everyone in the franchise given all the outstanding contributions that he made to the team over the years.

Here's what Bickerstaff had to say, courtesy of Grizzlies beat writer Michael Wallace:

“Today was a difficult day … you think about a guy like Marc Gasol, we owe him nothing but appreciation, respect for what he’s done for the organization.”

Gasol first signed with the Grizzlies back in 2008, and during his tenure with the team, he was able to lead Memphis to numerous playoff victories.

Now, he'll try to do the same thing with the Raptors, who figure to have a great shot at making the NBA Finals this season with the addition of Gasol to the roster.

As for the Grizzlies, they'll move forward with Mike Conley still on the roster, but it's clearly now a rebuilding process for the team as they sit at 22-33 on the season.

Next up for the Grizzlies is a road trip to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.
