Memphis Grizzlies stars Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. couldn't help but laugh at the recent “Black Jesus” trend that is going viral online.

Morant made headlines on Tuesday after a video of him giving a $500 tip to a Miami waitress spread on social media. It was a heartwarming exchange that really stood out because of the waitress' reaction after learning that he was talking to the Grizzlies star himself.

Beyond the wholesome moment, though, fans took notice how Morant called himself the new “Black Jesus” at the start of the video. As most NBA fans know, it was a nickname Michael Jordan was known for–with both Kobe Bryant and Reggie Miller having their own stories about it.

As the nickname re-enters the NBA consciousness, Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. took to Twitter to share their reaction to the recent trend. And well, it's safe to say they are having fun with it.

Should we start calling Morant “Black Jesus” now? Surely, some fans will jump to the hype and give the Grizzlies youngster that nickname.

But hey, it doesn't look like folks around the NBA will have much problem with that. After all, there is no doubt that Ja is one of, if not the most electrifying player in the NBA today. While he's not on Michael Jordan's level yet, fans can very well expect him to go all out and entertain whenever he's on the floor. Perhaps an entertaining and awesome nickname like “Black Jesus” will make things even better for him.
