Another day, another milestone for Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies escaped the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night with a grind-it-out win, 104-99. Both teams exchanged clutch shots in the dying moments until the Grizzlies finally managed to seal the victory to improve to 22-14.

The evening truly belonged to Morant, who notched a season-high 41 points, including 6-of-7 sniping from beyond the arc. He also added 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in yet another stellar performance, which has become the norm for the high-flying guard out of Murray State.

According to ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Morant joined Lakers veteran Carmelo Anthony as the only guys with multiple 40-point games against LeBron James in a single season. It seems Morant really loves to play against The King as he registered two of his three 40-point explosions this season against the Lakers.

According to StatMuse, in just his third season, Morant also set the new Grizzlies record for most 40-point games.

The former Rookie of the Year is definitely on a tear since returning from his knee injury. Morant has almost singlehandedly carried the Grizzlies with the roster getting depleted due to COVID-19 protocols.

It has become abundantly clear that Morant is one of the most competitive guys in the league today. He's also not shy about making his goals known, one of which is to make the All-Star Game. With the way he has carried the Grizzlies this season, that seems like a foregone conclusion.
