Ja Morant has forged his name into the Memphis Grizzlies record books by attempting at least 10 free-throws in three consecutive games. He is the first player to do so since NBA champion Pau Gasol.

Per the Grizzlies PR, Morant is a game away from tying the record set by Gasol in the 2005-06 NBA season. Morant started his streak in their 125-111 win over the Washington Wizards where he shot 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.

In their next game, a 112-11 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Morant shot 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. And on Wednesday, the Grizzlies youngster shot 7-of-12 from the free-throw line in their win over the Wizards.

While seemingly a trivial record, this shows how ultra-aggressive Morant has been playing in the last three games. As the star of the Grizzlies, he's doing all the right things. Being aggressive on the offensive floor almost always leads to good things.

From an officiating perspective, Morant is finally getting the treatment he deserves from the referees. There's an odd trend among NBA officials who don't give lower-tiered players the benefit of the doubt in extra-physical plays.

They usually give it to the superstar players who have “established” themselves as the head honchos of the floor. Following this logic, officials seem to have now accepted that Morant is about to become one of the league's elites.

Ja Morant has a chance to tie Pau Gaosl's record on Friday against the Denver Nuggets. Grizzlies fans better watch out and expect their star to be extra-aggressive in his drives to the hoop.
