Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was one vote shy of winning the 2020 Rookie of the Year Award unanimously.

Someone voted for New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson, and Morant wants to know who the culprit was.

Ja Morant appeared in 67 games during his rookie season. The explosive guard from Murray State averaged 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists while shooting 47.7 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from beyond the arc and 77.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies almost made the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference when no one picked them to compete for a postseason spot before the campaign started since franchise mainstay Mike Conley was traded to the Utah Jazz in a salary dump that completed their rapid rebuild. That shows just how special of a player Morant is. He is certainly going to make multiple All-Star teams in the future.

Injuries to key players led to the Grizzlies having to defend their eight spot against the red hot Portland Trail Blazers in the play-in game at Walt Disney World to which they were expectedly defeated. With their playoff spot slipping out of their hands, Grizzlies fans can expect Morant to be extra motivated in 2020-21. Ja and Jaren Jackson Jr. already have terrific chemistry on and off the court. Both youngsters are hungry to play in the postseason after they were so close this season.

Of course, the Grizzlies' front office has to continue to surround Morant and Jackson with more talent so they can have more help on offense.
