After watching Ja Morant connect with Trae Young for an insane reverse alley-oop early in the NBA All-Star Game, Reggie Miller couldn't help but desperately beg the Memphis Grizzlies star to join the dunk contest in 2023.

Miller was able to talk to Morant as part of the broadcast late in the third quarter, during which he made it a point to show the video of his alley-oop dunk before asking him to join the Slam Dunk competition.

The Grizzlies superstar took it in stride and didn't really make a commitment, but that is way better than outright refusing to do so.

For those who missed Morant's crazy dunk in the NBA All-Star Game, here's a full replay of Trae Young's lob that led to probably the biggest and best slam of the night:

It's easy to see where Reggie Miller is coming from. After witnessing the abomination that was the Dunk Contest on Saturday night, a lot of fans are demanding for a change or for  the best dunkers to give life back to the competition–similar to what Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon did back in 2016.

The 2022 competition was an absolute disappointment, with the participants failing to deliver the powerful and awe-inspiring dunks that would be remembered for the years to come. The annual competition has lost its luster in recent years, but the 2022 version didn't even live up to the already low expectations.

Hopefully, though, Ja Morant will reconsider his stance about the dunk contest after the Grizzlies youngster previously rejected the idea of participating in it.
