Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has probably been the best rookie in the NBA this season because he has played the entire year while remaining productive. However, he isn't getting quite the shine of New Orleans Pelicans phenom Zion Williamson.

Williamson was named the next gen cover athlete for NBA 2K21, something that has rubbed some people the wrong way.

But here's the thing: if anyone should be peeved by the announcement, it's Morant, but he isn't. In fact, the Grizzlies' rising star is thrilled for Williamson.

Zion Williamson began garnering national attention before his collegiate career even began, as he was considered one of the prospects people had seen since LeBron James. His lone season at Duke only further built the hype surrounding the big man.

After a spectacular freshman campaign for the Blue Devils, Williamson was selected by the Pelicans with the first overall pick of the NBA Draft last summer.

The caveat was that Williamson dealt with some knee issues at Duke, but New Orleans obviously wasn't going to pass on his massive potential.

Unfortunately, the 19-year-old banged knees with another player in Summer League and ultimately missed the first three months of the 2019-20 campaign after having to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

Zion made his NBA debut in late January, and ever since then, he has been taking the league by storm. He was averaging 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 29.7 minutes per game before the campaign was suspended last March.

For his part, Ja Morant has been pretty spectacular for the Grizzlies in his own right, registering 17.6 points, 3.5 boards and 6.9 assists across 30 minutes a night while making 49.1 percent of his field-goal attempts and 36.7 percent of his three-point tries. Nonetheless, it wasn't enough to propel him past Williamson for the NBA 2K21 cover honor.
