There was no chalk pick to be had in Game 1 between the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz on Sunday night. Even without Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz were favored comfortably in Game 1 against Memphis, yet it was the Grizzlies who edged it out 112-109. The win raised many eyebrows as Memphis looked far from your typical No. 8 seed.

Ja Morant was brilliant, pouring in 26 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Afterwards, Morant didn't mince words discussing the big win for the Grizzlies.

Via Bleacher Report, Morant made it clear that he doesn't care about the Grizzlies seeding and isn't scared of the Jazz:

“My message to myself is always, ‘If you don't believe in yourself, who will?'” Morant told reporters. “I take that on the floor. I always take two quotes that I got tatted on me that my mom and dad always told me that I'm trained to go, meaning that I work for this moment and I'm prepared for it. [And] ‘Beneath no one,' my mom always told me that. So as long as I'm going out there, I have all the confidence in myself. I'm not afraid of nobody. Anybody I play against tie their shoes the same way I do before the game. And I just go out there and play confident.” – Ja Morant.

He's not afraid of anybody.

That belief showed once again after the Grizzlies went on the road into a hostile environment in Utah to get the win.

Memphis had to win two straight in the play-in tournament just to earn the No. 8 seed. Many wondered if they would be gassed after the overtime thriller against Golden State back on Friday. Instead, the Grizzlies took Game 1 from Utah.

One thing is clear, Memphis isn't going to be intimidated by anyone and will make life miserable for the Jazz.
