On Tuesday, it was formally announced that Memphis Grizzlies' point guard Ja Morant was tabbed as a unanimous selection for the NBA's All-Rookie First Team. The only unanimous selection on this year's All-Rookie First Team after winning the league's Rookie of the Year Award for the 2020-21 regular season a few weeks back, Morant was still seemingly less than satisfied with his recent accolades ā€” according to a statement that the rookie signal-caller made on Twitter shortly after the aforementioned news was released anyway.

Ja Morant infamously received 99 first-place votes for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award while New Orleans Pelicans' big man Zion Williamson would go on to receive the remaining first-place vote. Williamson would finish in third place on such a list with Miami Heat shooting guard Kendrick Nunn failing to receive a first-place vote despite coming in second place behind Morant.

A global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters voted for this year's winner with Morant ultimately earning 498 total points alongside his 99 first-place votes.

In addition to Morant, the tandem of Williamson and Nunn were also selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team along with Golden State Warriors forward Eric Paschall and another Grizzlies player in swingman Brandon Clarke joining the trio. It is also worth noting that the Grizzlies have managed to make a bit of history here as Memphis hasĀ multiple players on the NBA All-Rookie First Team for the first time since the 2001-02 season, a campaign that saw big man Pau Gasol and sharpshooter Shane Battier featured.
