To celebrate their victory over the Washington Wizards, the Memphis Grizzlies tweeted an in-game photo of Ja Morant in midair about to go for a lay-up. The high-flying guard, however, made a little clarification about it.

Via Twitter, Morant said the photo that the Grizzlies posted was actually him about to botch the wide-open lay-up.

Morant seemed to take the blooper lightly as they picked up their second consecutive win on the road. Besides, he had a pretty good night with 35 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists. He was also praised by Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins for his careful reading of the Wizards' defense (via ESPN).

ā€œI thought Ja was special tonight. (He had) great control of the game. Offensively I thought he got the team organized, took what the defense gave him, he found the right time to be aggressive. This is something that's he's know that's just part of his overall growth.ā€

The 21-year-old Morant and the Grizzlies have been on an uptrend since last year. They almost made the NBA Playoffs despite their mediocre performance during the seeding games, with analysts viewing them as a serious up-and-coming squad.

The Grizzlies certainly made the right move in picking Morant as the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Not only is the former Murray State star one of the most explosive guards in the NBA today, but he's also a pretty good playmaker as well. Safe to say that as long as the Grizzlies have Ja Morant, their future is pretty much secure.
