Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins says second-year big man Jaren Jackson Jr. could return from his knee injury next week, per team reporter Michael Wallace.

The Grizzlies announced back on Feb. 23 that Jackson would miss at least two weeks due to a left knee sprain.

Jackson is averaging 16.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks on the season for the Grizzlies while shooting close to 40 percent from beyond the arc on 6.3 attempts per game. His combination of size, range and athleticism make him the perfect complement to rookie point guard Ja Morant, who has excelled and exceeded expectations this season.

The 20-year-old big man has remained mostly healthy this season, playing in 54 of the Grizzlies' first 56 games after he was shut down last year due to a quad injury. He previously suffered a knee injury this past November, but it merely appeared to be a blip on the radar. However, it seems the issue has resurfaced.

The Grizzlies are 30-31 on the season. They are in eight place in the Western Conference standings, but they hold just a three-game lead over the Sacramento Kings.

With less than 22 games remaining in the 2019-20 campaign, Memphis desperately needs Jaren Jackson Jr. back as they try to win every game possible and clinch a rather surprising postseason berth.
