Memphis Grizzlies rookie and energy guy Jaren Jackson Jr. is now among the newest member of the Nike family, as he has signed an endorsement deal with the sports apparel giant, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

Jaren Jackson Jr., the Memphis Grizzlies' fourth overall pick in this summer's NBA draft, has signed a multiyear footwear and apparel endorsement with Nike, industry sources have confirmed to ESPN.

It took some time for Jackson to sign a shoe deal compared to some of his fellow rookies. Deandre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns, Marvin Bagley III of the Sacramento Kings, Michael Porter of the Denver Nuggets, and Zhaire Smith of the Philadelphia 76ers have all inked deals with the Puma before the players were drafted by their respective NBA teams.

Although the financial details of Jackson’s deal haven’t been revealed yet, it’s definitely a nice alternative source of revenue for the first-year big man, who was taken fourth overall by the Grizzlies in last June’s NBA Draft. Early last month, Jackson signed a two-year deal worth $12.84 million with Memphis, which is hoping that the high-motor product of Michigan State will turn out to be among the cornerstones of the franchise’s future.

Based on his showing in the NBA Summer League, Jaren Jackson Jr. does look like a potential face of the franchise, as he averaged 11.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in five games.
