Following Sunday's 103-98 loss to the New York Knicks, one statistical nugget managed to shine despite the Memphis Grizzlies dropping their second consecutive game. In the midst of Memphis' loss, rookie big man Jaren Jackson Jr. recorded seven blocks, tying the rookie franchise record held by Pau Gasol (twice) and Bryant Reeves.

Not a bad company at all for the 19-year-old center.

For further distinguishment, Jackson became just the seventh player in NBA history to record at least seven blocks and three three-pointers in the same game.

Jaren Jackson Jr. tallied 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, and seven blocks against the Knicks and went 4-of-4 from three-point range in that time.

In an era where big men who're capable of knocking down three-point shots becomes more en vogue, it's probably unsurprising that the Grizzlies youngster had shown so much prowess from long-distance despite only converting 28.2 percent of his three-point attempts entering Sunday's game. Nonetheless, finding players who can score from the perimeter and dominate as shot-blockers (Jackson averages 1.9 blocks per game) is difficult no matter what position they play.

The son of former NBA journeyman Jaren Jackson, who enjoyed a long but unspectacular career, the prospects for the younger Jackson's career already look much better early on. He fits into the “unicorn” archetype that teams covet at the center position and with his combination of athleticism, defensive prowess, and guard skill, Jaren Jackson Jr. has the tools to be a force in the league for years to come.
