Big man Jonas Valanciunas has been cleared to make his debut for the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night when they take on the San Antonio Spurs, according to Grizzlies beat writer Michael Wallace.

Valanciunas needed to be cleared through the immigration process in order to officially join the Grizzlies.

Memphis acquired Valanciunas in a trade deadline deal with the Toronto Raptors, sending long-time big man Marc Gasol to the Raptors in exchange.

Valanciunas has actually been sidelined since the middle of December with a thumb injury.

In 30 games with Toronto this season, the 26-year-old averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds in18.8 minutes per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the floor and 81.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Valanciunas was originally selected by the Raptors with the fifth overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. He then came over to the NBA for the 2012-13 campaign and played in 62 games, registering 8.9 points and six boards across 23.9 minutes a night while making 55.7 percent of his field-goal attempts and 78.9 percent of his free throws.

The following year, the Lithuanian started all 81 contests in which he played, recording 11.3 points and 8.8 rebounds through 28.2 minutes per game, connecting on 53.1 percent of his shots and 76.2 percent of his foul shots.

He then went on to become a steady force in Toronto's frontcourt, averaging in the neighborhood of 12 points and nine rebounds for the remainder of his Raptors tenure.

However, due to his inability to spread the floor and his defensive deficiencies, Valanciunas began to fall out of favor in the Raptors' rotation this season, with Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam getting the bulk of the frontcourt minutes.
