It's well-chronicled by now that Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol has been through a really tough season.

He lost his starting point guard, Mike Conley, to an injury that has kept him out for the entire season thus far. Then the team's coach, David Fizdale, was fired in the middle of the season, much to everyone's surprise.

All the while, Gasol and the rest of his teammates have tried to just keep things afloat as they careen toward the lottery. But Gasol also has to deal with a particularly negative statistic on top of everything else he's already navigating.

It turns out that Gasol is last in field goal percentage among qualified centers, per ESPN. Centers that qualify are those that are projected to make 300 field goals once the season is over.

Gasol's field goal percentage is 41.8, which even for volume shooters is quite bad. But for a big man who is as talented and dynamic as Gasol, that percentage is a genuine atrocity.

We mustn't blame Gasol too much. As a team, the Grizzlies are one of the worst in the NBA when it comes to offense. Memphis ranks 29th in the league in points per game (99.1).

Be that as it may though, Gasol has to be more efficient of a scorer if the Grizzlies want to be any type of a good team. At this point, that doesn't seem likely, as they are 14th in the Western Conference and have only won 14 games.

That record may have something to do with Gasol's field goal percentage as well.
