The Memphis Grizzlies just set an NBA record for dominance by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 152-79. It is the first 70-point victory in league history.
The @memgrizz defeated the Thunder 152-79 tonight, the largest margin of victory in NBA history:
+73 MEM vs. OKC (tonight)
+68 CLE vs. MIA (Dec. 17, 1991)
+65 IND vs. POR (Feb. 27, 1998)
+63 LAL vs. GSW (March 19, 1972)— Justin Kubatko (@jkubatko) December 3, 2021
The Grizzlies set a franchise record with their 36-point halftime lead and only built on it further. Nine of their players scored in double digits, led by Jaren Jackson Jr.'s 27 points, a season-high total for the big man. De'Athony Melton scored 19 points and Jon Konchar added 17 points. Rookie Santi Aldama, who has scored 30 total points across 10 games this season, scored 18 tonight.
Memphis achieved this feat without the engine behind their offense, Ja Morant, who was sidelined with a knee injury. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Grizzlies scored more points in the paint than the Thunder scored points in total. They set a plethora of franchise records in the process.
Several NBA players were shocked to see the final score of this game.

Luguentz Dort led the way for the Thunder with 15 points. Only five of OKC's players scored in double figures. The Thunder shot 32.9 percent from the field (while the Grizzlies shot 62.5 percent) and are now 6-16 on the season.
The Thunder are familiar with historically lopsided losses, though. Last year they lost by 57 points, which set a record for the biggest home loss in NBA history.
Last May, the Thunder lost a home game by 57 points to the Pacers.
Tonight, they lost a road game by 73 points to the Grizzlies.

Oklahoma City was without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey tonight but that's hardly an excuse for a loss this bad. The rebuilding Thunder have all the assets to make trades and draft highly-touted players in the coming years. They'll have to make the most of them to justify losses like this.
