The Memphis Grizzlies won't tear down their roster in hopes to contend this upcoming season, reportedly looking to keep both star players in center Marc Gasol and point guard Mike Conley Jr., according to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News.

Contrary to prior reports suggesting that the Grizzlies would be looking to move up from their No. 4 spot, Deveney suggest the team could likely look to trade down in hopes to get a small forward like Mikal Bridges or Miles Bridges.

“If you have someone you like in the first few picks, they’re the first call you’d make,” one general manager said. “They obviously were the most disappointed with the way the lottery went and the options they have now. It seems like they want to try to turn that pick into something else.”

With likely no hope that Luka Doncic slides to the fourth selection, the Grizzlies could slide down and pick a wing like either of the Bridges without dropping too far or giving up their future for a veteran player.

Having hired J.B. Bickerstaff as the full-time head coach after a stint as the interim for a large portion of the regular season, the Grizzlies are a sure-shot to pull the trigger and make moves this offseason in hopes to regain relevance once again.

“Everyone’s going to talk before the draft, of course. But Memphis, I think they’re the ones who are going to be more ready to do something than others,” said the GM.

The Grizzlies have collected several draft assets, but they haven't had the best of luck developing them into star players, as no player since Mike Conley has remained since his rookie contract.
