The Memphis Grizzlies are marking a new era by harkening back to an old one. The team unveiled old-school uniforms and a throwback court design to be implemented in 2020-21 on Thursday, commemorating both its 25th anniversary and 20th season since moving from Vancouver to Memphis.

The Grizzlies' inaugural season was in 1995. They moved from Vancouver six years later, debuting in Memphis for the 2001-02 season. The organization ditched the cartoonish logo, complete with growing Grizzly bear tearing into and iconic teal lettering, in 2004, opting for a sleeker, supposedly modern look that's still in use today.

The Grizzlies officially closed the book on the Grit ‘N Grind era this summer, trading Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Grayson Allen, Jae Crowder, Kyler Korver, and two first-round picks. Conley was the last remaining member of the most beloved and successful era in franchise history; Marc Gasol was dealt to the Raptors, who he helped lead to their first NBA title, at the trade deadline, while Zach Randolph and Tony Allen departed in 2017.

With one of the most exciting, explosive young cores in the league, though, fans won't be lamenting the past all that much going forward.

Prototype modern big man Jaren Jackson Jr. is coming off a standout debut season in which he was named First Team All-Rookie, and Memphis selected electric point guard Ja Morant, the consensus second-best prospect in this year's class, with the No. 2 pick of the draft. Fellow first-rounder Brandon Clarke, a breathtaking vertical athlete with budding skill, was named Summer League MVP, too.
