It’s been a while since we last heard of Mike Conley Jr., who barely played last season because of an Achilles injury.

The 30-year-old Memphis Grizzlies point guard was at the University of Las Vegas on Thursday to attend the voluntary Team USA minicamp ran by San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, but did not participate in full-contact workouts, which was one of the notes made by Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Items from Team USA camp today: Paul George looked great 2 months off knee surgery, did full contact; Mike Conley was not doing full contact; James Harden in looks in great shape & motivated following Game 7 loss; Kyrie Irving cleared for basketball activities & doing 1-on-1 work.

Conley played in only 12 games last season, as he was forced to sit out the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign because of a problematic heel injury. He underwent a surgery to repair his hurting left heel back in January. Since then, the former Ohio State Buckeyes star has spent most of his time recuperating, as he targets to be 100 percent healthy once the 2018-19 season rolls around.

Although Windhorst’s observation suggests that Conley is far from ready for a full-game grind, a video that recently surfaced online showing the guard practicing his vertical jump indicates that Conley is on the right track to recovering fully in time for the next season.

Conley, who signed a huge five-year contract worth $152.6 million back in 2016, averaged 17.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in limited action last season.
