Despite being traded to the Utah Jazz this offseason, Mike Conley and his camp have no ill feelings towards the Memphis Grizzlies.

Conley spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Grizzlies, establishing himself as the leader of the team and a fan favorite. He was a big part of the Grit and Grind era that defined Memphis basketball at the turn of 2010. However, as the team entered a rebuild, the Grizz had to part ways with the veteran floor general.

While most players would feel disappointed for being traded by a team that they've been loyal to, it's different for Conley. In fact, as his father revealed to Mark Giannotto of Commercial Appeal, both sides are satisfied and happy with the separation.

“This is about as good as it gets,” said Mike Conley Sr., who is also his son’s agent. “We knew from the beginning it had to be good for Memphis also and sometimes it’s hard to see a win-win situation. But I think this is one of them.”

True enough, the Grizzlies got a fresh start after trading Conley. It also helped that they acquired plenty of assets which would help speed up their rebuild.

On the other hand, Conley was able to join a contender in the Jazz. Utah is expected to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference in the upcoming season, with Conley, rising star Donovan Mitchell and back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert leading the way.

It's unfortunate Conley is no longer a Grizzly. However, there's no doubt there will always be love and respect between the two sides.
