Memphis Grizzlies stretch forward Omri Casspi will undergo surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee. He will be sidelined for approximately six weeks, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Omri Casspi will have the surgery some time next week.

In 36 games this season for the Grizzlies, Casspi is averaging 6.3 points and 3.2 rebounds. The 30-year-old is shooting 53.4 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 67.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies enter Friday with a record of 20-32, 14th place in the Western Conference. Losing Casspi isn't that big of a deal since Memphis is already headed for its second straight losing season.

Casspi is making $2,176,260 this year. He will enter the open market after this season ends.

Although he's a solid perimeter shooter, Caspi has never been able to stay with one team for a long period of time. He has played for the Sacramento Kings three different times, as well as for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors.

Casspi has career averages of 7.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 588 NBA games.

The 10-year NBA veteran got into a locker room altercation with shooting guard Garrett Temple earlier in the season. It's just been that type of campaign for the Grizzlies.
