There has been so much hype around first overall pick Zion Williamson — and rightfully so — that it seems a lot of people are forgetting about Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, who was selected just one spot below Williamson as the second overall pick.

Well, this simply isn't the case for San Antonio Spurs veteran forward Rudy Gay. The 32-year-old is so impressed with what he has seen from Morant that he thinks this young man is going to change the NBA as we know it:

On his own personal Instagram account, Gay shared a clip from Morant's mini feature from The Players' Tribune entitled “Court Origins.” As the name implies, it talks about the rookie's roots from a basketball perspective, as well as where and how he started learning the sport as a kid.

From his humble beginnings, Morant has been on quite a journey, from being a relatively unknown high school recruit to quickly propelling himself into a top-three draft prospect. This was thanks in large part to his outstanding performance as a sophomore at Murray State, where he would average 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 10.0 assists.

As for his part, Gay has reportedly already agreed to a two-year, $32 million deal with the Spurs. The 6-foot-8 forward was heftily awarded for his impressive outing last season with the team, as he has now successfully forced himself into becoming an important member of the squad for the foreseeable future.
