Ja Morant just signed a five-year max extension with the Memphis Grizzlies. Even before putting pen to paper on a life-changing contract that could pay him up to $231 million, though, the notoriously grounded superstar was making a habit of paying his wealth forward.

On episode three of the Ja Morant Docuseries, titled “God Is The Greatest,” Morant and his crew make a pitstop to get a bite to eat while traveling through Miami. Leaving a $500 tip for his waitress is obviously the most important part of this story, and a heartwarming one all by itself.

But her reaction after realizing Morant is the Grizzlies' superstar is what makes it extra special.

“Black Jesus,” indeed.

Morant has received additional flak of late for his frequent and at times unfiltered use of social media. Some NBA fans have taken umbrage with him and his teammates' brash public confidence after Memphis was dispatched by the eventual-champion Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals, a competitive series despite Morant missing its last three games with a knee injury.

More naysayers aren't exactly fans of Morant's affinity for posting clips of his partying ways on social media, deeming that activity below a player who's quickly established himself as one of the best players in basketball.

Ignore all that chatter, though. Not only is Morant a uniquely electric scorer and playmaker, but he's remained a man of the people on his meteoric rise to stardom. An outsized tip, for instance, isn't rare for Morant.

Kudos to Morant for his giving nature. As a result, he'll no doubt make even more fans than he would otherwise as his shining young career with the Grizzlies continues.
