The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly won't buy out Andre Iguodala, who is owed $17.2 million this season, the final year of his contract. The 2015 Finals MVP won’t play a single game for the Grizzlies, as he waits to see which team will trade for him.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Grizzlies want a protected first-round pick for Iguodala:

The Grizzlies have already received a protected 2024 first-round draft pick for taking on Iguodala from the Warriors, and now they’re searching for a similar asset in a trade. Several teams have had discussions about Iguodala dating to the summer: Denver, Dallas, Houston and the Clippers, among others. Memphis is confident that a trade will materialize between now and the February trade deadline.

Last season for the Golden State Warriors, Iguodala averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 58.2 percent from the free-throw line. The 35-year-old swingman put up 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the 2019 playoffs.

The Iguodala situation could drag on for a while. The Grizzlies remain confident they will be able to fetch some type of return for Iggy, who has been training on his own while away from the Grizzlies.
