As the month of November starts to wind down, we have a great Western Conference matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Grizzlies-Jazz prediction and pick based on Grizzlies Jazz odds.
The Memphis Grizzlies are 8-8 on the season but are definitely a better team than their record shows. Memphis has one of the best young point guards in the NBA in Ja Morant. Morant is averaging 25 points and seven assists on the season. He's taking over control of the team and is establishing himself as an elite player each game. Memphis is 7-5 against Western Conference opponents but needs to improve their defense if they want to be successful. They are giving up 114 points per game which is not good at all. Dillion Brooks is currently out with a hamstring injury.
The Utah Jazz continue to be one of the elite teams in the NBA. They are unbeaten against Western opponents on the year and are currently on a 3-game winning streak. Donovan Mitchell is averaging 24.4 points and just under two steals a game over his last 10 games. Rudy Gobert is averaging 15 rebounds a game and continues to be a force on the defensive end. We will definitely be seeing the Jazz in the playoffs once again.

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread
The Grizzlies do have a great chance of covering this spread. Morant is playing extremely well and keeps the Grizzlies in most of the games they play in. The problem is on the defensive end. The Grizzlies are giving up 113 points per game over their last 10 games. That will need to improve or the Grizzlies will find themselves in holes they can't get out of. Missing Brooks is a blow to the team but the rest of the team is playing well enough to stay even on the season.
Utah is very dominant on both sides of the ball. Morant and company will need to play their best to win the game. In order to cover the 10-point spread, they will need to improve their defense and keep it as tight as possible. We all know that Morant can light up the arena whenever he wants, but that won't be enough if they can't get stops on the defensive end. That is their biggest priority heading into this matchup.
Why The Jazz Could Cover The Spread
Utah can easily cover this spread, but they will need to shut down Morant in order to do so. If the Jazz contain Morant, then Utah could win this game by 20+. They are averaging just as many points per game as Memphis is allowing, so that is a great sign for betters who want to bet on Utah. Utah is also 10-6 against the spread this year and are playing well as of late. The Jazz don't have any injuries on the report and will be fully healthy Monday night.
Mitchell and Mike Conley are one of the elite backcourts in the league. They excel offensively and defensively and will once again be the leading factor in many of their games this season. It's going to be difficult for Memphis to contain them. The Morant vs. Mitchell matchup will be an exciting one to keep an eye on.
Final Grizzlies-Jazz Prediction & Pick
The Jazz are one of the better teams in the NBA but 10.5 points is a lot against another solid team. With that being said, I'm taking the Grizzlies to cover 10.5 tonight. I think Morant will show up and play very well to keep the Grizzlies close for the entire game. The Jazz will find a way to win, just not by more than 10 points. I also like the over at 222. It's expected to be a high-scoring affair and one that will come down to the wire.
