Harrison Barnes may've been prepared to depart from the Golden State Warriors this summer, but that doesn't mean it was his intention all along.

When Kevin Durant shocked basketball fans around the world with his decision to play for the the Dubs, Golden State's front office jumped into action to create cap space. A number of players either had to be traded or let go to accommodate KD, including Barnes.

The former Warriors starting small forward ended up signing a four-year, $94 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, and while he's certainly excited for the challenge of starting anew with a different team, he wasn't exactly looking to do so.

From Marc J. Spears of ESPN's The Undefeated:

“The decision was more so made for me,” Barnes said. “I was not necessarily walking away from the situation. I wasn’t saying, ‘I don’t want to be here. I want to go there.’ But at the same time, I’m very excited about Dallas. It gives me an opportunity to grow.”

Barnes is set to play at Oracle Arena on Tuesday night in an exhibition for Team USA. Even though he no longer plays for the franchise by the Bay, Harrison doesn't expect the Warriors faithful in attendance to give him a negative reception.

His comments to Spears before tip-off:

“It won’t be emotional,” Barnes said. “I had a great experience at Golden State. They were a first-class organization. The fans there were great. It won’t be anything bitterness or anything like that. In the regular season, it will be a different feeling than now. It’s still fresh.

“I’m going there with USA. It’s not like I’m going there with the Dallas Mavericks.”

Considering he was a big contributor to their title-winning squad in 2015 as well as last season's incredible 73-win campaign, Barnes will likely be received positively when he comes back to Oracle donning a Mavericks uniform, too.
