NBA teams usually do a lot of promotions to bring people into the arenas. From fan nights, to ‘bobblehead' nights, the organizations have teams that handle promotions and how to bring people to the stands. One of the best teams in terms of promotion has to be the Atlanta Hawks, and they had a smart, millennial-focused idea in 2015.

One of the trends during 2015 was the dating app Tinder, so the Hawks decided to hold a ‘Swipe Right' night. During the night, many new couples were made and one of them was Ben McCleskey and Avery Armstrong.

This couple met during the first Tinder night and, since then, attended a lot of Hawks games together as a couple. One of those games was the second ‘Swipe Right' night, held in 2016. When Hawks CEO Steve Koonin heard about the couple, he promised to pay for their wedding. Along with that, he also promised that the Hawks will host the ceremony in the Phillips Arena.

McCleskey and Armstrong announced on social media that they are going to get married, and Koonin published a statement through the official Hawks website, stating that he did not forget his 2016 promise.

“Avery and Ben: We are super excited for how your relationship has grown since you met at our first Swipe Right Night,” wrote Koonin. “and I will absolutely make good on my promise for the Hawks to host your wedding. We can’t wait to start making plans and meet your new little one.”

This is a truly amazing gesture by the Hawks. In terms of connection with the fans and arena experience, the Hawks are really renowned through the league as one of the best fan experiences.
