The Atlanta Hawks were quick to shut down a previous report by ESPN's Jeff Goodman claiming the organization was ready to part ways with general manager Wes Wilcox.

Goodman claimed the team was expected to remove Wilcox from his position and that is was unclear if he was to take another role with the team. The team shortly released a statement, which read:

“Hawks leadership is undergoing a period of evaluation and looking at how basketball operations works best. There are no changes to report at this time and any reports indicating otherwise are inaccurate.”

Atlanta's postseason history has been mediocre at best and now faces a potential shuffling of the pieces on the hardwood as well as the front office.

Hawks owner Tony Ressler told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution during the series with the Washington Wizards that he didn't expect the franchise to make any sort of major front-office moves this summer.

Wilcox was promoted to his actual GM position in 2015 — and while the Hawks reached the postseason in both seasons since his promotion — they have been unable to find a winning formula to take them past the Eastern Conference semifinals.

A 4-2 loss to the Wizards in the first round has not helped matters and with the impending free agency of forward Paul Millsap, the front office will need a voice to either sign their All-Star to a long-term deal or manage a good package in return for his services.
