The Atlanta Hawks have discussed sending a 2020 first-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets and the salary-cap relief of expiring contracts to the Detroit Pistons for center Andre Drummond, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

There's an increasing belief inside and outside the Pistons organization that Drummond will be traded before the February trade deadline:

The Hawks have discussed sending a package that includes a 2020 first-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets and the salary-cap relief of expiring contracts for Detroit, league sources said. A potential deal would include other assets.

There's an increasing belief inside and outside the Pistons organization that a Drummond deal is growing in likelihood prior to the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline, league sources said.

The Pistons-Hawks discussions have included ownership levels with both teams, but no ideal is considered imminent, league sources said.

The Hawks have the worst record in the NBA and are said to be looking to upgrade their roster to get more talent around second-year point guard Trae Young.

A Young-Drummond pick-and-roll would be hard for opponents to stop. The Hawks could send the Pistons a package which includes Chandler Parsons and Allen Crabbe, two veterans whose contracts come off the books after this season ends.

The Hawks are only 7-27 on the season. While they are coming off an impressive win over the Orlando Magic, they still have a lot of ground to make up if they aspire to make the playoffs.

Drummond is averaging 17.6 points, 15.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 blocks per game this season for the Pistons.
