The Atlanta Hawks' youth movement is not stopping anytime soon. The Hawks have signed two young G-League players, Daniel Hamilton and Alex Poythress, the team announced on Monday.

Daniel Hamilton signed a two-way contract last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder and G League's Oklahoma City Blue. The versatile swingman posted impressive averages of 16.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists for the Blue.

DraftExpress noted Hamilton's versatility as the greatest upside of his game.

“His best characteristic is his versatility, as he was one of only three players at the college level to post over five assists per-40 minutes while averaging over 10 rebounds per-40, with the other being potential #1 pick Ben Simmons, and WCC player of the year Kyle Collinsworth.”

Meanwhile, the 6-foot-9 combo forward Poythress will also be strutting his stuff for the young Hawks team. Having had stints with the Philadephia 76ers and the Indiana Pacers, Poythress normed averages of 20 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in seven starts for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

His potential to be an effective combo forward was what DraftExpress looked at before the 2016 NBA Draft.

“His draft potential still revolves largely around his physical profile with his 6'8” height and 6'11” wingspan providing him with a nice foundation as a potential combo forward. He also has some impressive athletic ability and doesn't seem to have lost anything since his ACL tear early in his junior season. He has a strong, developed frame at 240 pounds with great open court speed and explosiveness in the half court that makes him a physically imposing prospect, particularly on the defensive end.”

The Hawks could have officially started full rebuilding mode when they traded their starting point guard Dennis Schroder to the Oklahoma City Thunder this summer. They will lean on Trae Young and John Collins to lead a team mostly comprised of up-and-coming talents.
