Chandler Parsons has nothing but praise for his new team, the Athlanta Hawks, particularly their young core.

In an interview with Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the veteran forward admits he sees something special with the team and is excited to be part of the squad.

“So excited. Just to have a fresh start with an organization like the Hawks is incredible to me, Parsons said. “The young core that they have is really something special.”

The Hawks are slowly but surely building a team around the core group of Trae Young, John Collins, and fourth overall pick DeAndre Hunter. Although they are not expected to contend for a playoff spot next season, there is no doubt that they could end up as some of the brightest stars in the league.

Young, the fifth overall pick in last year's NBA Draft, struggled in the first few months of last season but managed to bounce back strong after the All-Star break. In fact, his play late in the season was so phenomenal that he finished as a serious candidate to win the Rookie of the Year award.

Collins also showed significant improvement last season compared to his rookie year back in 2017-18. He averaged 19.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Hawks and was a perfect running mate for Young. The duo's pick-and-roll game was something that a lot of opposing teams found difficult to stop.

If Young and Collins continue to improve, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Hawks win more games next season.

Of course, the development and impact of Hunter will also play a key role in their success. Hunter highly regarded as one of the rookies with unlimited upside, and his presence is expected to give Atlanta a big boost.

These guys, however, aren't the only ones who have something to prove.

After disappointing stints with the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies, Parsons will also need to remind the league that he still has a lot to offer, especially for a young Hawks team that needs a veteran presence in the locker room.
