Former NBA player Channing Frye was tuned in to the duel between the Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat, a game that was decided in overtime. One thing about the game, however, confused him.

Frye wondered why Vince Carter — a 22-year pro — was still in the game.

On Twitter, Frye shared his thoughts and asked why the Hawks did not field a young player, someone who will learn lessons on how to execute properly in an overtime period. For Frye, this move will benefit the team in the long run.

In the end, the Hawks lost 132-121. Carter himself finished with 12 points.

De'Andre Hunter led the Hawks with 28 points while Trae Young had 21 markers and nine dimes. The loss brings Atlanta's record to 6-18 for 13th place in the East.

Critics expected the 2019-20 season to be a big year for the young Hawks squad. This is due to the stellar performance of Young in his rookie season, as well as John Collins. Last season, the two showcased the potential to be an effective 1-2 punch.

But just five games into the 2019-20 season, Collins was slapped with a 25-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy. The Hawks, too, as an entire team, didn't seem ready for prime time. Their youth and lack of experience have been more of a bane than a boon and their horrendous regular-season record proves it.

For Frye, a remedy for this lack of experience is to give the young players more responsibility by exposing them to critical late-game situations.
