Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon is set to make his season debut Wednesday for the Hawks' home opener against the Dallas Mavericks. Dedmon has been rehabbing an avulsion fracture in his left ankle, and while he is probable for Wednesday's game against Dallas, it is worth noting he will be re-assessed prior to the game to make sure he's fully good to go.

Dedmon missed all of training camp, as well as the entire preseason, so there’s a possibility he is worked back into action slowly. With young stud John Collins currently nursing his own ankle injury, Dedmon will provide a much-needed boost down low for the 1-2 Hawks.

Dedmon had his best season last year, with career highs in minutes per game (24.9), points per game (10.0), and rebounds per game (7.9). He even saw his free-throw percentage improve from 70 percent to 78 percent.

Dedmon’s defense has been respected for some time now, but adding a 3-point shot to his arsenal last season and hitting 35.5 percent from 3-point range makes him even more valuable to the team.

To say Dedmon is ready to get back on the court appears to be an understatement. He sent out this message just last week:

The Hawks won their last game in Cleveland, with Trae Young busting out in a big way to earn Atlanta its first win of the season. The Mavs are 2-2 on the season and are coming off a victory over the Chicago Bulls.
