The Atlanta Hawks have been rumored to be willing to flip their No. 3 overall selection up or down in the board, according to the offer in place. Yet, contrary to prior reports, the Hawks could very well stay put and make the selection they've had in their crosshairs since their slot was announced in the NBA Draft Lottery.

“With Atlanta, you heard all along that Marvin Bagley was really their guy,” said ESPN Draft expert Jonathan Givony during a recent episode of The Woj Pod. “Potentially at two also, maybe even at one, I think they would have looked very hard at him. If he’s there at three, it’s an easy choice for them.”

Marvin Bagley is the best all-around defender at the top of the board, able to defend at least three different position and possessing a scary wingspan that will cause nightmares in passing lanes for years to come.

As a 6-foot-11 freshman at Duke University, Bagley posted an impressive 21 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, while coming whiskers shy of a steal and a block per game.

The Hawks will have some considerations to make if Slovenian wonder Luka Doncic drops to them, considered a sure-fire top-two pick — but certainly a lot of things can happen until the draft takes place in mid-June, with Bagley having the advantage of being able to workout in front of scouts and executives at the NBA Draft Combine.

Obviously, many NBA franchises will hurl a lot of rumors out by way of leaks until the NBA Draft actually happens. Be cautious when reading too deeply into reports.
