Jabari Parker says he signed with the Atlanta Hawks in part because the team's medical staff worked with his surgically repaired knee.

Parker has torn his left ACL twice since entering the NBA back in 2014. The knee injuries have prevented him from living up to his potential, but he's been diligent in monitoring his health since then.

Parker split time this past season with the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards. The Chicago native averaged 14.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 49.3 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and 71.2 percent from the free-throw line. Parker signed a two-year, $13 million contract with the Hawks.

Parker is a guy who can score in bunches. However, the new Hawks forward is a subpar defender. The former No. 2 overall pick will have to improve his defensive skills and give more effort on that end of the floor if he wants to play significant minutes in Atlanta.

The Hawks have a nice young core, headlined by Trae Young, John Collins, Kevin Huerter and rookies De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish. Parker is a solid addition to the squad. Look for him to come off the bench and be a microwave scorer.
