Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce was not a happy man following his team's humiliating defeat at the hands of the lowly New York Knicks. After the game, the 42-year-old coach blasted his team's attitude coming into the contest, and admitted that the Hawks deserved to lose against the 11-47 Knicks:

Pierce gave a spot-on assessment of his team's lackluster showing on the evening, with the visiting Knicks securing a 106-91 blowout win on Atlanta's home floor. New York snapped an 18-game losing streak with the victory.

As a team, the Hawks shot a miserable 33-of-91 from the floor (36.3 percent), and this was thanks in large part to the poor efficiency of starters Taurean Prince (3-of-12), John Collins (4-of-11), and backup center Alex Len (1-of-7).

Promising guard Kevin Huerter's performance stood out in this one — in a terrible way, unfortunately — as the 20-year-old produced a goose egg on 0-of-4 shooting in 23 minutes as a starter. The 19th overall pick accounted for a plus-minus of minus-16 as he struggled mightily in this contest.

The Knicks were led by newcomer Dennis Smith Jr., who posted 19 points on a highly efficient 7-of-10 from the field. Fellow New York newbie DeAndre Jordan also had one of his best outings as a Knick, with a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double with three blocks. The 6-foot-11 big man literally had a perfect night for his side as he shot 4-of-4 from the floor and sank both of his attempts from the stripe.

This was Atlanta's final game prior to the All-Star break, and they now sit on a 19-39 record.
