It took a few days for veteran guard Lou Williams to embrace the Atlanta Hawks as his new team. There was even a point when he considered retiring from the game. However, in a recent interview, the 34-year-old explained his absence, noting that he had to switch to a ‘positive' mindset.

Per Mirjam Swanson of The Press-Enterprise, Williams admitted that he had to sit down and reflect on his carer. Note that Williams had been a formidable part of the LA Clippers' rise from a mid-tier club to a championship-caliber squad.

“It took me a few days to get here because once I arrived, I wanted my energy to be positive, I wanted my experience to be positive and I didn’t want the guys to look at me like I didn’t want to be here,” said Williams, who was with the Hawks in Phoenix but not yet available to play against the Suns.

“It wasn’t personal against the Hawks, I just needed some time to figure out what was best for myself at this stage of my career, but now that I’m here and like I said, I’ve been embraced, the guys seem as if they want me here, so I’m ready to get back to work.”

It's an understandable move. After all, Williams had been very close to finally winning his first-ever NBA title. The Clippers are looking good this season after last year's playoff blunder. While the Hawks are also good, they still need a few more seasons to evolve to a strong team. Props to Williams for keeping it professional.
