Dwight Howard's short-lived stint in his hometown of Atlanta was not only another stop in his now journeyman career, but one that he'll like to put behind him when looking back at his career.

Despite averaging a healthy 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game last season and ranking fourth in defensive rating in the league — Howard was not liked by his former teammates.

Howard was not always the recluse he finds himself to be through the beginning of his career, boasting a cheerful, well-liked personality through his first eight years with the Orlando Magic — but having played for three teams in the last five years, he's found himself to be a tough individual to get along with.

His situation got so bad that his former Atlanta Hawks teammates were happy as can be when they found out he had been traded to the Charlotte Hornets.

Per ESPN's Zach Lowe on the Lowe Post Podcast via Jamie Cooper of Uproxx.

“I don’t know what it is. No one has kind of gotten to the bottom of why. It can’t just be the corny jokes – and my god, does he tell the corniest jokes – but I’ve heard multiple stories of Hawks players learning about the trade and screaming with jubilation into their phones.

“You ask why, and one account was that Dwight would give these speeches before the game about how everyone is playing hard, we want unity, we’re going to… and then go out and play like a blah game where he demands post touches and doesn’t rotate as hard as he could. And everyone is like, ‘why are you speaking in the locker room?’ But that’s all anecdotal. It’s just crazy how these stories come out after every stop in his career.”

Howard will now enter yet another chapter with his sixth NBA team, but it won't be surprising if he garners the same opinion from them soon enough.
