Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is hyped after the team didn't waste any time removing the interim label on Nate McMillan. Now, the 56-year-old tactician will head into the offseason as the official and permanent head coach of the Eastern Conference finalists.

Young took it to Instagram to share his reaction to the news. He didn't have much to say, but it is enough to show how excited he is upon hearing the news.

Nate McMillan is reportedly signing a four-year deal with the Hawks, and it is certainly much deserved after he led the Hawks to the East Finals despite his young core playing in their first postseason.

Even though they failed to move on to the NBA Finals after falling to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games, the growth and improvement the Hawks have shown under McMillan is more than enough for the front office to keep him long-term.

For his part, Trae Young already expected the move. In fact, after their incredible playoff run ended, the 22-year-old sharpshooter said he'd be surprised if McMillan doesn't return with the team next season.

“I’m not surprised they haven’t announced because, I don’t know, it could become a distraction. I think everybody kind of knows what’s going to be coming. We’re all winning, so it’s not anything that I feel like he should be worried about or anything like that,” Young explained at the time before the Hawks confirm McMillan's deal.

“It’s just the timing. We’re in the playoffs, it’s the end of the season. I don’t think it’s something they want to take away from the team right now. I mean, obviously, he’s done a great job with helping us turn this around, so I’d be surprised if he’s not with us next year.”

Aside from Young, John Collins also expressed his support for McMillan to be the permanent head coach, noting that it “would be a major shock” if it doesn't happen.

Sure enough, Atlanta knew what it needed to do.
