Atlanta Hawks second-year point guard Trae Young told his dad he didn't want to attend the All-Star Game last season because he wasn't chosen to play in the game.

That won't be the case this season, as the Hawks' floor general will be a starter in the game:

“And I actually had tickets to the game and my dad asked me if I wanted to go and I told him I didn't. I didn't want to go. I wanted to wait to experience that first time ever going to All-Star game on Sunday when I was in it. So for me to be able to go this year and participate, it's God's plan,” Trae Young told ESPN.

The Hawks are only 12-36 on the season. They have the worst record in the East, but Young has been playing like a superstar all season and deserves to start in the All-Star Game.

In 43 games this season for the Hawks, Young is averaging 29.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 9.0 assists. He's shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Young has 17 double-doubles and two triple-doubles.

While the Hawks almost certainly won't make the playoffs this season, the franchise has to be happy that Young will represent the organization during All-Star Weekend in Chicago.
