Trae Young claims he’ll pass Stephen Curry as best shooter in the NBA in a year
Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has quickly risen as one of the league’s top shooters. With that being said, Young claimed that he’ll pass Golden States Warriors superstar Stephen Curry as the best shooter in the NBA in a year.
During an appearance on The Big Podcast with Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal asked him how long he thinks it will take for him to pass Curry as the best shooter in the NBA. Young said that he’ll pass Curry in a year.
It may sound far-fetched, but Young’s numbers have been impressive in his first two seasons in the NBA. In Curry’s first two seasons in the league, he hit 317 three-pointers. As of right now, Young has made 361 three-pointers. However, he has shot more three-pointers than Curry.
Curry has also shot 43.5 percent from three-point range in his career, compared to Young’s 34.4 percent. Needless to say, Young most certainly has the potential to pass Curry as the best shooter in the NBA. However, as of now, Curry still remains the best shooter in the NBA. Curry may also go down as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.
Before the season was suspended, Young was having a phenomenal year, averaging 29.6 points, 9.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 35.3 minutes per game. The 21-year-old was also shooting 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range.
The Hawks were 14th seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 20-47. Despite the terrible record, the team has shown plenty of promise and upside for the future.
