Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young was not one of the 44 finalists for the 2020 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team which was announced by USA Basketball on Monday.

Young, who will be a starter in this weekend's All-Star game, admits he's pretty upset about not being a finalist for Team USA:

“I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hurt by seeing it,” Young told Sarah Spencer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Obviously I would have wanted to play on the team.”

On Twitter, Young wished good luck to the 44 finalists and the 12 players who will eventually make the roster. But everyone in Atlanta knows the rising superstar is privately ticked off.

Young is having a terrific statistical season for the Hawks. He's averaging 29.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.1 assists while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from beyond the arc and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Despite Young's stellar play on a nightly basis, the Hawks are only 15-39 on the season. They will likely miss the playoffs barring an incredible turnaround.
