Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young is thrilled the franchise signed veteran Rajon Rondo in free agency.

The All-Star took to social media to hype up Atlanta's acquisition of Rondo.

Rajon Rondo is signing a two-year, $15 million deal with Atlanta. He suited up with the Los Angeles Lakers the past two seasons and played a pivotal role in the 2020 Finals, where the Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in six games at Walt Disney World in the bubble at Orlando, Florida.

The Hawks now have Trae Young, Kris Dunn and Rondo as the point guards on the team. Young, the best player on the roster, averaged 29.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game in 2019-20. He shot 43.7 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from beyond the arc and 86.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Despite the stellar play of Young, though, the Hawks finished the 2019-20 season with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference before games were suspended in March due to COVID-19. However, they should be better next season with the additions of Rondo, Dunn and veteran small forward Danilo Gallinari, who put up 18.7 points per game for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019-20 and shot 40.5 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

As is the case every season moving forward, the Hawks' playoff hopes rest on the shoulders of Young, who is already one of the best passers and shooters in the league despite being only 22.
