Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young paid tribute to the late NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in the team's game on Sunday.

Against the Washington Wizards, Young, who usually wears number 11, wore number a number eight jersey for the game per Fred Katz of The Athletic. The gesture, an obvious tribute to Bryant who wore number eight for half of his career.

Bryant sported number eight for 10 seasons and wore number 24 for the other 10.

Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other passengers were involved in a tragic helicopter crash on Sunday. The crash, which occurred in Calabasas, California, left no survivors.

While Young never played while Bryant was in the league, the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar was an inspiration to many players currently in the league. Bryant is considered by many to be one of the greatest players in NBA history.

A star in his own right, Young is averaging 29.1 points, 8.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game for Atlanta. Despite his incredible individual season so far, the Hawks remain at the bottom of the NBA standings. At 11-35, Atlanta possesses the worst record in the Eastern Conference and the second-lowest winning percentage in the NBA this season.

As of writing, the star point guard has six points, five assists and two rebounds in nine minutes of play against the Wizards.

In only his second season, Young was recently named as a starter for the upcoming All-Star game in Chicago. The first All-Star nod of his career, Young will need to make 17 more appearances to match the career total of Bryant.
