It looked like Trae Young was headed for yet another off night by the way he played for the Atlanta Hawks in the first half against the Detroit Pistons at Philips Arena on Wednesday. However, he certainly flipped the script in the second half and overtime, leading the team to a 123-115 win to end their three-game losing streak.

Shortly after the intense match, Young gave a pretty straightforward response about his vastly improved outing in the final 29 minutes of the game, via Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com.

Trae Young was figuring in yet another miserable shooting in the first half and went to the break with just six points to his name. If not for the strong start of John Collins and Clint Capela, Atlanta would have completely been out of the game early versus Detroit.

The 22-year-old scorer must have gotten one heck of a pep-talk at halftime, as he exploded for 32 points for the rest of the evening. Young finished with a game-best 38 points on 11-of-26 shooting from the field, including three made 3-pointers for the Hawks. He also scattered 10 assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block in 44 minutes.

Moreover, the 6-foot-1 Hawks playmaker also drilled the biggest shot of the game, as he put away the Pistons for good with a 31-foot dagger in the extra period.

The Hawks also got a huge lift from Collins and Capela, who put up 31 and 27 points, respectively. Young's scoring outburst is certainly good news for Atalnta, who improved their record to 7-7. The former Oklahoma Sooner has hit a rough patch over the last couple of games, which greatly factored in their losing skid. Nonetheless, it looks like Young finally has his mojo back and he hopes to carry the same momentum when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves next.
