Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young has been named as one of the finalists for this year's Rookie of the Year honors, and the 20-year-old guard reacted to this announcement by calling out everyone who thought he had no chance of winning the said award.

Young, the fifth overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks last year, was traded to the Hawks in exchange for Luka Doncic. In the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year predictions, no expert picked him to be the best newcomer in the league.

During the first few months of the season, it looked like Young was proving his critics right. He was producing good numbers, but not enough to amaze anyone who was watching the Hawks. But then he took his game to the next level in the middle of the season, where he tied some of the records previously set by NBA legend Oscar Robertson.

Then it became clear that the Rookie of the Year race was between him and Doncic. The two youngsters battled it out in the final stretches of the season. Each time Luka does something spectacular, Trae matched it with one of his own. They made it look like no other rookie was worthy of being recognized because of how great they've been playing.

Young still believes that he's the best rookie in last year's draft class, and while many people believe that Doncic is the runaway winner of the Rookie of the Year honors, the Hawks guard's confidence isn't shaken.

And that's a good thing for him and the franchise moving forward.
