Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young just trolled the New York Knicks on Twitter after the news came out that free agent superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have spurned them to join the Brooklyn Nets.

Over the past six months, there was a consensus around the league about Durant and Irving teaming up in New York to play for the Knicks. Some NBA insiders even claimed that it was close to a done deal and that free agency would be a formality. However, in a stunning turn of events, it seems that KD and Kyrie were not really interested in joining that team. They didn't even give the Knicks a chance to make a pitch before agreeing to sign with the Nets a few minutes after free agency began.

Now, the Nets have a collection of superstar-caliber talent and young, promising players that are expected to take over in Brooklyn once KD and Kyrie's time there is up.

As for the Knicks, well, it surely is disappointing that they have once again failed to land the players that they've coveted for so long. But there's still hope for that franchise. Yes, they will have to undergo a long, grueling rebuild, but they have the necessary pieces to start with. RJ Barrett, the third overall pick in this year's draft is set to become the face of the franchise, while potential All-Star Dennis Smith Jr. and defensive stalwart Mitchell Robinson are expected to be part of their long-term plans.

So be patient, Knicks fans.
