Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young is the latest of many NBA personalities to pay tribute to ā€œBlack Pantherā€ actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on Friday.

Young retweeted the announcement of Boseman's death via the actor's official Twitter account:

As detailed in the statement, Boseman bravely fought against colon cancer for four years. Boseman's biggest film is Marvel's ā€œBlack Panther,ā€ which was released in 2018. As it turns out, the American actor had already been battling the dreaded disease during filming.

ā€œBlack Panther 2ā€ is scheduled for release on 2022, and it has yet to be determined who will fill the role as King T'Challa of Wakanda in the wake of Boseman's passing.

For Trae Young, the Hawks stud shared how it was a great experience for him to meet Boseman during this year's All-Star weekend. Boseman was one of the many celebrities in attendance throughout the weekend, and as Young described, the actor's beaming and infectious smile was a great sight to see during the festivities.

As for his basketball, Young has been on an extended break, with the Hawks one of the eight teams that were not invited inside the Disney World bubble. Atlanta has not been involved in a competitive NBA match since March, and surely, the hiatus has been a challenge for TraeĀ  and the rest of his squad.

There is much to look forward to for the Hawks, however, with the team in possession of the sixth overall pick in the upcoming draft. Atlanta's young core is also expected to take the next step this coming season, with the likes of Young, John Collins, De'Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter all looking to lift the Hawks to relevance.
