The Atlanta Hawks managed to secure a win over an extremely shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers side on Monday, 112-94. As it turns out, Haws star Trae Young had some extra motivation entering the game.

After the win, Young took to Twitter to share how it was his mother's birthday on Monday, and that a loss was simply unacceptable on this special day:

Young bounced back in a huge way against the Sixers, finishing with 26 points on 9-of-19 shooting to go along with three triples, three rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and zero turnovers in just 25 minutes of play. After a couple of duds, the 22-year-old looked like his old self again on Monday. This is in spite of Young dealing with some soreness in his right wrist, which, fortunately, does not appear to be anything serious.

The Sixers unsurprisingly struggled mightily in this one, with the squad missing a handful of players due to COVID-19 health protocols. Joel Embiid was able to suit up for Philly, though, logging 24 points, 11 rebounds, and an assist in 23 minutes of action.

The good news for the Hawks here is that they have finally returned to winning ways. Monday's victory was just their second W in 2021, following a four-game losing skid. Atlanta had a strong start to the season but has since been a mediocre team at best. Hopefully, they are able to build on this win. Needless to say, Young will continue to play a key role in the Hawks' success the rest of the way.
