Trae Young continues to torch the hoop after leading the Atlanta Hawks to another critical win. They beat the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night, 118-103, building more momentum as they go through the play-in tournament.

Young caught fire in the third period, scattering 16 of his game-high 30 points to allow the Hawks to break the game wide open. The All-Star dynamo knew he had to step up, especially when he saw how the Wizards' defense was set up, per the report of ESPN.

“I just wanted to be more aggressive. I saw that Kristaps (Porzingis) was more in drop coverage. I told our big men to set the screen. I knew I was going to be able to hit that three. I hit a couple of them.”

Young surely capitalized on Porzingis' defense, as he ran rings around the Wizards. He also added 11 assists, with four other Hawks finishing in twin digits in scoring.

The 23-year-old Young has now scored at least 30 points in six of their last nine outings, including a pair of 40-point extravaganzas, leading the Hawks to a 19-3 home record since January 17.

Their strong finish solidified their chances to squeeze into the play-in tournament, as they hold on to the no. 9 spot in the Eastern Conference. With Young waxing hot, the Hawks will be a very dangerous opponent.

The Hawks will close out their regular season against the Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
